Hugh Sawyer has collected over 25 years experience in the IT industry, through working with some prominent Canadian corporations, including: Mount Sinai Hospital, Burroughs Business Machines, Imperial Oil, and most recently Eli Lilly pharmaceuticals. Over the years, Hugh has played key leadership roles for these organizations, including: Program Manager, Systems Manager, Technology Director, Data Resource Management Director, and Chief Information Officer.

Hugh is a high-energy IT leader with more than 15 years management experience and a proven track record in building highly motivated IT teams that deliver. He continues to be committed to improving the capability of the IT organizations, and has recently established an IT consulting firm, called CIO Advantage to apply his techniques in a broader venue. His areas of focus include providing consulting and facilitating services in areas such as: Strategic Planning, IT business integration, service level and customer satisfaction management, organizational structure and governance, IT portfolio management, and benchmarking.

Hugh has also been a strong advocate of the increased capabilities IT can provide the business with senior management, and has been actively involved with Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Business Intelligence and data warehousing, as well as the needed infrastructure to mention a few.

On any assignment, Hugh brings to bear his many hands-on management experiences. However, his last ten years as a CIO have given him numerous insights on what it takes to make recommendations practical and implementable.
